Unify
Organizational memory preservation for leadership transitions

An AI-powered system that aggregates scattered organizational knowledge—emails, Slack, WhatsApp, Google Drive—into searchable institutional memory. When leadership changes, knowledge doesn't walk out the door. New committees can search "how did we run Charity Week in 2023?" and get structured answers with sources.
Key Features
- Integrates Slack, Google Workspace, Gmail, WhatsApp exports
- AI-powered search across all organizational history
- Auto-generated event timelines from communications
- Structured handover document generation
- Role-based knowledge retrieval
- Searchable contact database with interaction history
- Secure OAuth authentication for data sources
The Problem
When student organization leadership turns over—as it does every year—an estimated 70% of institutional knowledge vanishes. The outgoing president knows which venue cancels last-minute, which speaker requires a specific AV setup, which budget line item always gets cut. The new committee starts from scratch. They repeat mistakes their predecessors solved. The organization's effective memory resets to zero annually.
The Solution
Unify creates persistent organizational memory. It connects to wherever communication already happens—Slack, email, WhatsApp—and aggregates everything into a searchable knowledge base. AI parses the content into structured categories: events, decisions, roles, contacts, timelines. Handover documents become generated artifacts, not manual labor. The system can produce structured briefings for each role based on actual historical activity.
What Was Built
A functional web application with organization creation and role-based access, OAuth integration with Google Workspace, WhatsApp export ingestion, Gemini-powered AI search and summarization, auto-generated event timeline cards, contact database with interaction history, and role-based query responses. Live demo showed creating an organization, connecting Google Workspace, and querying historical information.
Technical Approach
Web application using Google OAuth for Workspace integration. Data ingested and indexed. Gemini API for semantic search and summarization—queries return AI-generated summaries plus ranked source documents. Serverless architecture for scalability.
Impact on the Ummah
Muslim student organizations (ISOCs) are often the first point of organized Islamic community engagement for young Muslims. When they function well, they shape faith for life. Unify lets these organizations accumulate wisdom—a well-run ISOC in 2026 can pass that competence forward, building an institution that gets better each year rather than resetting to zero.
Universal Application
Leadership transitions plague every organization with rotating leadership: student clubs, volunteer nonprofits, neighborhood associations, professional societies. The problem of scattered communications and lost institutional memory is universal.
Long-Term Vision
Templates and playbooks that can be shared across organizations. Proactive handover prompts as leadership transition dates approach. Integration with project management tools for current-year coordination.
What's Next
Pilot deployment with an ISOC (the team identified their own organization as the first user), refinement based on real handover cycles, and development of sharable templates.
